A note on sizing:  While each of my Heirloom Handknit Hats is one of a kind, it’s possible to estimate what size might fit you best.

First, use a tape measure to get your head circumference, being careful to go over both ears, across the forehead and down over the knobby part at the back of your head.

Now add for ease:  1/2 inch if you want it to fit snugly (for active use), an inch for average fit, or 1 1/2 inches if you prefer a rather loose fit.

This should give you a good starting number if you want to contact me about your next hat.

Though I’m not currently re-stocking there, visit my online shop to see more design options.

  1. Hi Sari,

Because all of my hats each turn out a slightly different size, ordering online can be tricky, but I have had good luck in the past with open-minded folks.

Generally, we can start with a head measurement in inches, and perhaps a favorite color, and I can then see what I have in the studio that would be a good match. I can then email you some photos of possible hat choices, and we can go from there.

    Best regards– Carrie

    • Carolyn,
Thanks so much for dropping by & saying hello! I appreciate the feedback of other fiber folks.

I sell hat kits for US$35, (plus shipping), which includes instructions for knitting & felting, a bit of satin ribbon to line the band, and 2 skeins of yarn, enough for one hat. Additional skeins cost $10 each.

You can contact via email if you’d like a kit: ccmhats AT gmail DOT com

      Thanks again! Carrie

    • Hi Michael,

Thanks so much for being in touch and for your question!

Yes, men do wear these hats, depending on the color combo (say, blue & grey, brown and black, etc.).

I also have made a beanie-type hat that men have really taken to… You can see it here:

New! CCM Felt Hat for Men

Let me know if I can help you find the perfect winter hat!

      Best–Carrie

  12. I want to order one of your hats. How do I do that? Do you use either PayPal or Venmo? I also would like to get one of your make your own kits if you still do those. I find these beautiful and the art of felting is something I have recently gotten interested in. I have a friend in Wyoming that spins wool into yarn. I have bought a great deal of her wool skeins and love crocheting and knitting hats, scarfs, and shawls. I can best be reached by call or text 678-316-3986 but I am including my email which I only check if expecting something…. but I will be checking it for your reply. Sarah Briggs Hill is a friend {and her father married my sister} so that is how I learned about your work…… I would love to see you in this area at a fair sometime.

  13. Hi Carrie, I used to have the beautiful 25″, felted Pillbox hat 2005 #95 and lost it!! So sad!
Could I please order a new hat? Where is your next show? I can choose one online, too. Which ones do you have in this size?
