CCM Felt Hats on WNTK Talk Radio’s Twin State Journal

Fiber artist, Carrie Cahill Mulligan joins printmaker, Matt Brown, at his home in Lyme, New Hampshire, for the 2nd Annual League of New Hampshire Craftsmen's Open Studio Tour, Veteran's Day Weekend, 2006. During our League of NH Craftsmen’s Open Studio Tour last weekend, Matt Brown and I bumped into the esteemed Dr. Janine Weins, whom we both know through tai chi classes at Long Wind Farm, in East Thetford, New Hampshire.

Janine is also the long-time host of talk radio’s “Twin State Journal,” which airs daily 6-7 pm on FM 99.7 & AM 1490 here in the Upper Valley, and she kindly invited Matt & I to join her to talk about our work and upcoming fine craft events in the area.

Twin State Journal is a live interview program that originates from WNTK’s Talk Radio studios in Lebanon, New Hampshire. The mission of Twin State Journal is to entertain the listeners while introducing them to the people, places, businesses and events that make the WNTK and WUVR listening area a special place in which to live and work.

Dr. Janine Weins joined WNTK in March of 1991 and for more than a decade she was the sole host of Twin State Journal. She has interviewed more than two thousand guests including First Lady Barbara Bush, President Clinton, former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, Astronaut Jay Buckey, Captain Kangaroo Bob Keeshan, nationally acclaimed herbalist Happy Griffiths and Glass Blower Simon Pearce. Westport Creative Arts Festival

Carrie Cahill Mulligan works on her Heirloom Handknit Hats at the Westport Young Woman's League Creative Arts Festival, November 2006. This weekend, November 17 & 18th, I return to Westport, Connecticut for the Young Woman’s League Creative Arts Festival for the 3rd year running.

One of the premier juried craft shows in the country, the Festival offers stunning, hand-crafted items by a wide variety of talented artisans. There’s something for everyone on your holiday list, from toys to decorative home items, jewelry, clothing, and even specialty food items.

Don’t worry about bringing the kids, they’ll have fun at the Westport Historical Society’s kids corner themed “Arts and Crafts: Old and New.”

The Creative Arts Festival (CAF) is sponsored by the Westport Young Woman’s League, a non profit organization dedicated to helping those in need in our community and beyond while providing its members an opportunity for camaraderie and personal growth through its many educational and fun special interest activities.

At the upcoming Westport Young Woman's League Creative Arts Festival in Westport, Connecticut, Carrie Cahill Mulligan will donate one of her Heirloom Handknit Hats with freehand embroidery, This year, I will donate one of my freehand embroidered Heirloom Handknit Hats to the Creative Arts Festival Raffle, the proceeds of which help the WYWL with charitable works in the local community throughout the year.

League of NH Craftsmen’s 3rd Annual Open Studio Tour: Virtual Reception

Carrie Cahill Mulligan joins woodblock printmaker Matt Brown at his home studio for the League of NH Craftsmen's Open Studio Tour this Veteran's Day Weekend. Let the Open Studio Tour begin!

For the 3rd year, the League of New Hampsire Craftsmen will host an Open Studio Tour at artists’ studios across the state this Veteran’s Day Weekend.

From 10 am to 5 pm, Friday through Sunday, you can get a glimpse into the minds and creative processes of over 60 juried craftsmen around New Hampshire.

And, to help kick off the festivities, several Upper Valley craftsmen will come together at Matt Brown’s printmaking studio for a wine and cheese reception 5 – 7 pm Friday, at 23 Washburn Hill Road, in Lyme, NH.

Join me and Matt, along with metalsmith, Lynn Adams, wood-turner, Dustin Coates, and fellow fiber artist, Sara Goodman, for fellowship and fine craft, along with tasty treats for all.
